Kite’s NEST ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

Welcome to the Kite’s Nest Alumni Association! We are currently building out our alumni program so that as our youth graduate and continue to build their lives in Hudson, or return after living elsewhere, they have the opportunity to be involved in Kite’s Nest, maintain access to collective resources and opportunities, or join our staff. We’re creating a safe and loving space where Kite’s Nest community members can connect, celebrate each other, and navigate adulthood together.

WHO WE ARE

Mike Alert, Alumni Program President (He/Him)
Mike Alert is a Kite’s Nest alum and community leader. He first joined Kite’s Nest when he was in high school, where he spent three years as a Senior Fellow in our Social Justice Leadership Academy and afterschool programs. After graduating high school, Mike attended Morehouse College, a historically black men's college located in Atlanta, Georgia. Since then, Mike has continued to return home to contribute to his community: he organizes city-wide kickball tournaments to raise college tuition funds for Hudson students heading to college; and he organized a large-scale Juneteenth Freedom March as part of the movement for Black Lives in June 2020. We are thrilled that Mike will be returning to SJLA as a Lead Educator!

Jasmin Ahmed, Alumni Program VP (She/Her)
Jasmin is a Kite’s Nest alum, a graduate of Hudson High School, and a current student at Hartwick College, where she’s majoring in Education and Political Science. Jasmin was a participant and then Youth Staff in SJLA for four years, worked with Kite’s Nest as a paid Teachers Assistant and Garden Educator, and sat on both the Kite’s Nest Youth Advisory Board and SJLA Youth Planning Board. At Kite’s Nest Jasmin developed a deep passion for education, politics, and photography, which she carried into her community work as a Coordinator for Hudson Muslim Youth and as a member of her school’s Student Council. A deeply talented educator and community leader, Jasmin will be an incredible addition to the Kite’s Nest staff this summer and beyond.
